US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Hollywood icons Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as Special Ambassadors for Hollywood, California. Announcing the appointments on Thursday, Trump stated their mission would be to revitalize the American film industry, which he claims has lost substantial business to international competitors in recent years.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump said, “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place—Hollywood, California. They will serve as my Special Envoys to help bring Hollywood back, bigger, better, and stronger than ever before!”

Trump expressed his confidence in their abilities to restore Hollywood’s former glory, promising a return to a “Golden Age.” He added, “These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will act on their recommendations. Hollywood will once again shine brightly, just like the United States of America itself.”

This announcement follows Trump’s series of key appointments to his administration ahead of his second inauguration on January 20. Earlier this month, Stanley E. Woodward was named Assistant to the President and Senior Counselor, while Robert Gabriel Jr. was appointed Assistant to the President for Policy. Nicholas F. Luna and William Beau Harrison will serve as Deputy Chiefs of Staff for Strategic Implementation and Operations, respectively.

Trump’s recent electoral victory has been historic. He secured 312 electoral votes to Kamala Harris’s 226, also winning the popular vote—a first for a Republican candidate since George W. Bush in 2004. With this win, Trump becomes the second leader in U.S. history to serve two non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland.

Trump will take the oath of office on January 20, officially marking the beginning of his second presidency.
